I just finished up my first semester at Youngstown State University. It has flown by. Much progress has been made to the studio. I actually filled an entire driveway sized dumpster with junk that was in that room. I also had chemical safety over to remove three carts worth of chemicals that we will no longer use! Some of these products had been purchased before I was even born and others, as far as I know, are not even in production any longer. As many of my colleagues know, this is not my first print studio renovation. I have renovated- rejuvenated-remodeled-rearranged-altered studios at Bowling Green State, Lawrence University, and the University of Southern Indiana. I was certain Lawrence's studio was the worst I would ever encounter, but I've been proven wrong. YSU's facility is an awesome space, it just needs some serious TLC along with some new furniture/equipment, and it will be a great college printshop. Maybe in the near future I will post some before and after photos, might be helpful for others to see. Each week I continue to make major improvements, thanks to the support of the Chair of my department and the support of my new colleagues. The students have certainly appreciated the changes and understand how these updates to the facility has improved the atmosphere in the shop, as well as aided them in the production of some quality work. Well that is it for now...check out my image section for a couple of new works. I was able to make a few things even in this time of reconstruction.
